FCCLA State Competition Results

Twenty-nine Brady High School students along with their two advisors, Alyson Evans and Jennifer Marshall, traveled to Dallas for the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) State Conference on April 5th through the 7th. During the conference, students attended leadership workshops such as Making Kindness Cool, Surviving Failure, Dressing for Success, and Marketing Yourself Online and In-Person. In addition, a variety of general sessions were held where students listened to inspirational speakers like Hoan Do, an America Ninja Warrior, discuss positive self-talk and persevering in the face of adversity.

While at the conference, all twenty-nine students represented Brady High School by competing in Parliamentary Procedure, Recycle & Redesign, and Family & Consumer Science Assessments. These teams and individuals were vying for the opportunity to compete at the National FCCLA Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.

On Saturday morning during the final general session, Brady High School received recognition for participating in the State FCCLA Service Learning Project, which focused on literacy. Reta Estes won the bookmark decorating contest, and Brady High School was recognized for donating the most books from any 3A schools. The following individuals and teams were recognized as well:fc1

· 1st Place and qualifying for Nationals- Senior Parliamentary Procedure Team: Mikaela Hudson, Shatoria Jones, Vanessa Martinez, Nicholas Medrano, Ana Reyes, and Micah Trull


 2nd Place and qualifying for Nationals – Junior Parliamentary Procedure Team: Shelby Adair, Samantha Castillo, Nikki Flores, Grace Franz, Amari Gonzales, Riley Nalls, Camryn Nuncio, and Keegan Pitre.

3rd Place – Junior Parliamentary Procedure Team: Giselle Ashton, Macie Cogburn, Phoenix Martinez, and Kyler Pitre


· 4th Place – Junior Recycle and Redesign: Laela


· 6th Place – Senior Parliamentary Procedure Team: Jadyn Cavness, DeAndra Henton, Ryan Nalls, and Georgia Tucker

· Family Consumer Science Assessments: Anna Colunga (gold), Zayah Gonzales (gold), Destiny Hargas (silver), Lauren Stephenson (gold)
