FCCLA Region 2 Conference

Thirty-six Brady High School FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) students attended the Region 2 Conference in Waco on February 22-24. FCCLA is a career and technical student organization with the family as the central focus. Members learn important life skills such as leadership, planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication. Brady’s FCCLA sponsors are Alyson Evans and Jennifer Marshall

The regional conference featured a series of specialized leadership workshops and general sessions designed to help members discover ways to become involved in issues facing today’s youth. The conference was also an opportunity for students to compete in STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events to showcase their life skills in different areas. Brady earned awards in the following:

 1st Place Sr. Parliamentary Procedure Team: Nicholas Medrano, Mikaela Hudson, Vanessa Martinex, Shatoria Jones, Ana Reyes, and Micah Trull.

 3rd Place Sr. Parliamentary Procedure Team: Georgia Tucker, Jadyn Cavness, DeAndra Hinton, and Ryan Nalls.


1st Place Sr. Recycle & Redesign: Emily Delafuente

 2nd Place Sr. “Say Yes to FCS”: Anna Colunga

 1st Place Jr. Parliamentary Procedure Team: Camryn Nuncio, Samantha Castillo, Nikki Flores, Grace Franz, Amari Gonzales, Riley Nalls, Shelby Adair, and Keegan Pitre.

 2nd Place Jr. Parlimentary Procedure Team: Macie Cogburn, Kaitlyn Adair, Giselle Ashton, Taylor Limbaugh, Phoenix Martinez, and Kyler Pitre.

 

2nd Place Jr. Recycle & Redesign: Laela Reyes

 

Family & Consumer Science Assessments: Zayah Gonzales – silver, Sierra Davis – silver, Brady Hernandez – gold, Lacey Carpenter – Gold, Destiny Martinez – bronze.

 The Parliamentary Procedure Teams, Recycle & Redesign, and “Say Yes to FCS” will all advance to compete on the state level this April in Dallas.

While at the conference, Region II Vice President of Parliamentary Law, Reta Estes, continued her year-long regional officer commitment by planning, preparing, and running the Region II House of Delegates to elect and install the upcoming years regional officers. Reta was also held a vital role on stage at the general session meetings and will conclude her duties at the state conference in April.
