Special Olympics at Hardin Simmons Track Meet
On Tuesday, April 3
rd, the Brady High School Special Olympics track team competed in a practice meet sponsored by the Hardin-Simmons Athlete Advisory Committee. “This is a unique track meet because no awards are given, but the athletes are able to compete in as many events as they want. It’s a great opportunity for them to try new things and see what other events they may excel at. The entire meet is ran by the HSU student athletes so they get to hang out with college athletes all day who do a great job of cheering them on and helping them do their best.” This year was extra special because the team was reunited with Caleb Turnell, a former BHS Unified Partner and current member of the Hardin-Simmons football team. “He was such an asset to our program and it is great to see him continue to share his gift of compassion and encouragement for athletes of all abilities. We are very proud of him and wish him luck this next football season.” The Bulldogs will next compete on their home turf at Bulldog Stadium on Tuesday, Aril 17th. They will host 5 teams in their second annual local Special Olympics track meet from 10am-2pm, and encourage everyone to come out and support the athletes who will be competing.
