About Your Directors


Kelly Rushfeldt
Head Director

Kelly Rushfeldt serves as the head director of the Famed Brady Bulldog Band for Brady ISD. Mr. Rushfeldt has been director since September 2014, and he has worked hard to uphold the traditions of the FBBB under his leadership. For many years the band has received Sweepstakes and even advanced to Area marching contest in 2015 and 2019. In 2016, he also helped the band reach Area level in the outstanding performance series, where they achieved 2nd plaec. His goals are to have students enjoy and excel in music, making it an important part of their lives for many years to come.

Prior to working in Brady ISD, he has taught at Rotan, Eastland, San Marcos, Gatesville, Baytown, West, and Mexia, helping all programs to achieve strong musicality with high student involvement. Under his leadership, many students have achieved success in All Region, All State, and Solo and Ensemble competitions.

Before he was a band director, Mr. Rushfeldt was a crew chief in the Air Force, where he assisted with launching and maintaining Aircraft from 1980 to 1985. Upon returning from Okinawa, Japan to the United States, he attended Hardin-Simmons University to obtain his Bachelor of Music Education. During that time, he also spent two years studying Saxophone with Harvey Pittel at the University of Texas.

Mr. Rushfeldt lives in Brady with his family Gaylene Rushfeldt and daughter Kellen, who  plays oboe, saxophone, and even serves as Drum Major for the BHS band. Along with multiple furry creatures that they bring home, being part of the Brady community is a happy place to be for Kelly and his family. 

Luke Hahn
Assistant Director/
Percussion Coordinator

Mr. Hahn serves as one of the Assistant Band Directors at Brady High School and Middle School (appointed 2020). He currently teaches 6th-8th grade low brass, 6th grade flute, and coordinates/instructs Percussion 6-12th grade. 

Before his work in Brady, Mr. Hahn served as a Front Ensemble Technician and Private Lesson teacher in Frisco and Aubrey ISD. During his time at these schools he had several students make the All-Region Band, and earn a 1st Division Rating at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest

Mr. Hahn also marched two seasons of Drum Corps International with the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps in the Front Ensemble. During his second year with the Cadets he earned the “Distinguished Service Award”.

In the spring of 2020, he received his Bachelors of Music Education from the University of North Texas, where he was able to play in many different ensembles during his time there as as student. These ensembles included the UNT Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Brass Band, 2 o’clock Steel Band, Men’s Chorus, and Green Brigade Marching Band. 

Mr. Hahn now works with his wife, Emily Hahn, and they currently live together in Brady, Texas, where they also serve on their church worship team. In addition to their beloved cats and golden retriever, the Hahns are expecting their first baby in November of 2021. 

Emily Hahn
Assistant Director

Mrs. Hahn serves as one of the Assistant Band Directors at Brady High School and Middle School (appointed 2020). She currently teaches 6th-8th grade high brass, 6th-8th grade clarinet and saxophone, 7th and 8th grade flute, and runs the visual program for the high school marching band. 

Before her work in Brady, Mrs. Hahn served as a Marching Technician and Private Lesson teacher in Prosper and Frisco ISD. During her time at these schools she had several students make the All-Region Band, and earn a 1st Division Rating at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Mrs. Hahn also marched four seasons of Drum Corps International, spending the 2016 and 2017 seasons with the Blue Knights, and the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Santa Clara Vanguard. During her first year with the Santa Clara Vanguard, her corps won the DCI World Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as the brass, visual, general effect, and percussion DCI captions. During her second season there, she performed as the mellophone soloist and won the Mike Korten Memorial Award.

Mrs. Hahn received his Bachelors of Music Education from the University of North Texas where she was able to play in various groups, such as the UNT Symphonic Band, and Green Brigade Marching Band. 

Jennifer Dossey
Colorguard Director

Jennifer Dossey currently serves as the Colorguard director for FBBB. She graduated from McMurry University in December 1997 and has worked for Brady ISD for 22 years. The 2021-22 season will be her 5th year directing the Colorguard. In that time, she has had the pleasure of seeing the group grow from four to fifteen members. In addition to its growth, the Clolorguard has recently completed their 2nd year of winter guard.

Mrs. Dossey has been married to her high school sweetheart, Darrell Dossey, for 24 years. She is also a mother of 5, with Levi age 22, Taylor age 20, Kylee age 16, Colton age 14, and Macie age 1. All her older children have participated in the FBBB. Levi and Taylor both played the trumpet, and Kylee currently plays the flute and participates in color guard and winter guard. Colton is a percussionist on the drumline and participated in color guard previously. During her school career, Mrs. Dossey participated in band, playing flute all 4 years, and color guard for 3 years. She was captain of the colorguard her junior and senior year, and also participated in colorguard for 1 year at McMurry.

Mrs. Dossey is excited to continue her journey with the FBBB and Color Guard and see what great things they can accomplish.
